IPA: IPA Converter

By learning these symbol you will be able to make an IPA transcription of any English word yourself.

However, I recommend you to use an IPA converter to make sure that all sounds of the given word were captured in the transcription. You know, sometimes we might not perceive some nuances and shades of sound. So, using an IPA converter guarantee a more accurate transcription. Actually, being able to catch sounds that we might not only by hearing is one of the major advantages of the IPA, right?

So, where can you know the IPA form of a word?

The most reliable is in a dictionary.

You can search a word in the online Cambridge dictionary and see how it is spelled in IPA. Pretty simple. For example, it says that the word alphabet in IPA is /ˈæl.fə.bet/.

An alternative way is to use AI.

I use a simple command on DeepSeek like “[insert Russian word or phrase] to IPA” and it converts the word into IPA. But be careful, sometimes AI make errors, like wrong stress position and the like. If you will use AI, make sure to compare the transcription with the audio clip on Google translate.

Enjoy the IPA. 🙂
